2019 APACS / SPA National Conference

The 2019 APACS National Conference will be held from Wednesday, 25th to Friday, 27th September 2019 at the University Club, Perth, Western Australia. Potential presenters are invited to submit an expression of interest in presenting at this conference on innovative and effective practice in schools or translating research into practice in schools.

The Committee would like to encourage anyone who is interested in presenting at the 2019 APACS National Conference, to submit an Abstract for review. These presentations will be 30 – 40 minutes in length and will be clustered in sessions with presentations of a similar theme. The participants are mainly school psychologists, school counsellors or guidance officers, hence the focus on the use of evidence-informed practices and the practical application of research in the field.

Suggested themes may include (but are not limited to) working in Aboriginal communities, culturally sensitive practice, effective learning strategies, learning difficulties, inclusive practices, whole school approaches to case management, use of technologies in practice; and innovative school programs such as those addressing behaviour, mental health, social and emotional learning, trauma informed practice, wellbeing and mindfulness.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstract Specifications:

Abstracts to be no longer than 250 words, using 12-point Arial font.
Please do not include a list of references at the end of your abstract.
Keywords: please also provide the main 3-5 keywords of your presentation
Submission must be by COB 1 May 2019.

Abstracts must be provided in Microsoft Word and emailed as an attachment to:

Please precede the abstract with the following information:

1) Title of presentation

2) Principal author, role/title

3) Author affiliation/ organisation

4) Email address and mobile number

5) Name of co-author/s, role/title and affiliation/ organisation and contact (if applicable)

Acknowledgement of abstract receipt will be sent to the stated email address. If you do not receive this confirmation within 48 hours upon submission, please contact the conference organisers at:

Presentation abstracts accepted for the conference means that the Conference Organisers may publish and distribute the abstract in all formats and media, including print and digital forms. Copyright of the abstract will remain with the author/s.

Conference presenters are expected to register and finance attendance at the conference by 30 July 2019 to ensure inclusion of the presentation in the conference program.

All abstracts will be subjected to peer-review, coordinated by the Scientific Committee of the conference. Acceptance and inclusion of an abstract is based on the number, theme and quality of submissions. The principal author will be notified of the selection results by email by 5 June 2019.
